Do university students who go to private language institutes study differently from students who don't attend institutes?

Mmmm?  If "yes," why?

This is the second of two research projects we're working on now.  Hopefully it'll be finished by November 1st, 2008.

So many students and friends have asked me, "what's the best way to improve my foreign language skills?"

Living in Europe as a child I was exposed to a lot of foreign languages, but didn't really start studying one till I was about 11, living in Spain.  In one year, I developed basic conversation skills.  Immersion learning is pretty good!

Over the years, my Spanish was sharpened in South America and another trip to Spain, along with some university study.  Then I lived in Malaysia for a few years, and picked up basic conversational skill in Bahasa Malay.

Also, I studied Arabic for a few years.

I've lived in Korea for seven years as of October 2008.  Though I only actually studied Korean for seven months, I can basically communicate, though my grammar isn't perfect!

This study is about foreign language study strategies.  I hope you enjoy!

World peace through better communication?

Maybe.  One thing's for sure, we can't communicate if we can't speak the same language!

My other research project compares Chinese and Korean university student study strategies. https://goldstonepencil.tripod.com/l2studystrategies
