Some folks are "joiners."  They jump on every bandwagon and follow along well.  These people are good team players.
 
Then, there are the "rugged individualists," like Kit Carson and Daniel Boone.  These people don't follow well.  They choose their own way.
 
As for me, I'm not a joiner by nature.  But, the following organizations have proved useful to me at one point or another.

OVER THE YEARS...
 
I've joined few organizations.  I'm just not a "herd" sort of guy.  For a while I was a member of a few organizations like the following:
 
* Midwestern Society of Electron Microscopists
* National Association of School Psychologists
* Amature Athletic Union
 
Now, except for a few journalist organizations, I'm only a member of the following two:
 
* Korean Society of Linguistics
* Korean Society of Socio-Linguistics
