Language is like a mountain - a big, big thing.
These projects are only medium sized , and give students a chance to develop certain conversation areas broadly.

EFL Special Projects

Projects requiring about a week preparation:

1.      Give the class a tour of your hometown and early life using visuals, i.e. scanned photos and/or Google Earth. Try to include your earliest memories if you can. What schools did you go to?  Where did you live?

2.      Give “a foreigner” a tour of your country using visuals.  What do you think are the most interesting places worth visiting.  Please don’t just focus on obvious places.  Include at least a couple unusual places to visit, and things to do, if you can.

3.      Explain some aspect of your culture to a foreigner.  Describe the history of that cultural tradition. Explain how it’s changed, if it has changed over time. Use visuals.

4.      You just inherited 100 million dollars and want to take a one year world tour. Where would you go? How long would you stay there?  What would you do there? Use visuals of some kind if you can.

5.      Find a historical character you like.  Please describe his/her exploits.  If you can use visuals, so much the better.

6.      Choose a news story.  Please give the background, and describe the article. Use visuals if you can.

7.      Choose a sport.  Give the history, current status and some possible future developments in that sport.  Make mention of the sport’s greatest heroes, teams, etc. Use visuals.

8.      Choose a movie.  Describe what happens in that movie (the plot), who wrote it, directed it, and acted in it.  Explain about how it was received by the public and why. Use visuals if possible.

9.      Choose a book.  Describe the plot, who wrote it and maybe the author wrote it.  Why did you like, and what did you learn from the book?

10.  Choose your favorite piece of technology.  Explain who developed it and how.  Explain why you like it. Use visuals if you can.

11.  Talk about a friend or family member that you like, love or respect.  Use visuals if you can.

12.   Make a projected career map for yourself if you can.  What do you intend to do with your life?  Where do you want to work?  What do you hope to accomplish professionally in life?

English - the key to the world - except France maybe!
Just a joke!
